    3.  My mom has breast cancer, what are my chances?

There are models and formulas that take into account a variety of factors, from the time you started having periods, to use of oral contraceptives, and when you had you first child; therefore, your family risk is putting you into a higher category, than in the general population; and, if your calculated risk of contracting breast cancer is over 20% you may qualify to have an MRI of the breast, which is more sensitive in detecting earlier, smaller breast cancers than with conventional 2D mammography.
